This was the first time I saw our wedding video. It was great to relive it. Also seeing your mother on the bike ride through Manhattan and at her birthday party was proof of what a great and fun loving woman she was. I miss that laugh!

Terrific post, as always! I love the Foster the People album. Before they released "Sit Next To Me" in the late 2010s, "Helena Beat" was my favorite track, and at least two or three others on that album are still among my favorites.

Thanks for the reminder about "Junk of the Heart," too. That's a song that I played to death and seems to have gotten lost to time; I don't think I've played it in a few years now, but glad to have rediscovered it!

Thanks Matt! Yes, I'm a big fan of indie rock/pop and I always enjoy hearing these songs. Great energy!

Enjoyed your piece Dan and indeed the wedding video. Something me & my husband didn't do when we got married. Seeing yours, it made me realize once more that it's a shame we didn't have someone filming the day. I found it quite funny that on your trip to Scandinavia & The Baltics you also visited my home country Belgium 😃. I wasn't surprised that it was Bruges you saw. Although beautiful, it isn't the most beautiful (or even best preserved). But their ww marketing is the best so it has become the "Disneyland" of medieval Belgium 😁. Anyway thanks for sharing !

Well, you can still have a celebration - maybe for an anniversary? Glad you enjoyed the video!

Yes, Bruges is all we saw of Belgium. We need to go back some time and see more of the country! Thanks, as always, for watching and reading!

Loved, loved watching your wedding video! So sweet with Mom walking you down the aisle. Colleen did such a wonderful job, such beautiful words. I wish I could have been there to share this special day but at least glad I could see it now. Love you both. 😍

Cool to watch that wedding video! I can’t for the life of me remember where Lauren was. But it must’ve been important because she wouldn’t have missed this unless it was. Fun day!

Love all of those Foster the People songs. AND that video on the bike in New York OMG

Ha! Yeah, maybe Lauren was at a yoga retreat... So glad you were there!

Yes, this was the start of the decade of Foster the People (in my Top Tens, at least!)

Your memoir beautifully captures a year rich with love, music, and adventures. I particularly loved how you described Houdini by Foster the People as a song that "stressed the importance of keeping it real." The blend of music, memories, and reflections makes for an inspiring and relatable read.
