I listened to half the tracks which made me wish I was on a roadtrip though the Karoo or Namib Desert - thanks. With the state of the planet, I rarely get to listen, but here a few additions:
‘Raise the Red Flag’ is a decent tune from that album.
Now that the door has opened, let me make a list to share with you… maybe call it The Best Satanic Bands You Don’t Know Because You’re A Slave Listening to Ghost Songs For Spotify Profit - he he.
Happy New Year! Due to age, I've discovered Lenny in the late 90s, and I've been a fan since then. Sure, some of his albums have resonated with me more than others, but the overall quality of his work is always so damn good. I absolutely loved Blue Electric Light. It was definitely one of my very few new music highlights in 2024.
It's funny how you describe the development of your Lenny K. love, as it's the opposite of my own. I fully connected with his first two albums, and after that, I more or less lost interest and only liked songs here and there. I haven't heard his latest, so I'll definitely give that a listen (or two) and see if I hear the hard-to-define qualities that pull me in to his music. It's always good to see another music lover praising the latest from Fastball. I've actually seen it on a few lists now.
I felt mixed on the newest Everything Everything. I can't remember their earlier albums off the top of my head, but I think it was either Fever Dream or Re-Animator that I really thought was their best.
I'm getting a strong fun/melodic/slightly-British vibe from many of your picks. And of course, you had to pick the Real Estate album!:)
I watched him in Durban, long ago. He was the headliner, but his arrogance was such a turn-off i despised his show. Thankfully, 'The Cult' were awesome, and the 'Goo Goo Dolls' exceeded my expectations.
You're right about that vibe! As for Everything Everything, I really didn't listen to much of their earlier albums so I didn't have much to compare the new to. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the Lenny album if you decide to listen to it. Of course, it won't change my ranking of it this year!

Awesome! I need to check these out in more detail. I didn't know the first two artists were still recording.
It never fit your vibe, so I left out Marilyn Manson :)
My vibe doesn't matter! If you like it, we should know about it! My friend Tom had Manson's "One Assassination Under God" in his Top Ten this year.

NB: Bandcamp rocks!
Brilliant choice. I read this (coincidentally) listening to Kasabian
Neon Pill is a great pick. It’s an excellent album that I’ve kept coming back to all year.

I’m definitely with you on this one Andres! I wish more people would have given it some attention.
