Thanks for watching this...so I don't have to. I'm sure the actors and filmmakers do a great job, but I just can't with the subjects. I've read enough to know their "mentorship" has led to too much chaos and destruction. But I'll leave that vent for another time. :-p

I can't bring myself to watch this but do love what I have seen Sebastian Stan in.

Hi Dan, I'm very glad to see you review this film. Since I live in a very red state, the movie never played in theaters here, so I recently rented it on Amazon Prime too. I think it's one of the best films of the year. Besides the great performances by the entire cast, I really like the way the filmmakers have used historic footage from the era and edited it into the movie. It really made that time period come alive. In addition, I think the script is really great. You almost feel sorry for the young Trump in the first part of the film only to see him morph into a cold hearted egomaniac in the second half of the movie. To me, the film is a post-modern Citizen Kane in a lot of ways. I think there are a lot of parallels between the two films. But, this film was always doomed to fail. There's no way the Maga crowd would ever watch it and most people who despise Trump have no interest in seeing the film - especially since Trump has been all over the media 24/7 for the last 10 months. Even so, I think it's a film that people will discover later on and find interesting. Hopefully, this fine review will spur a few more people to watch it too.

Excellent perspective Jim! I forgot to mention in my review about the inclusion of historical footage. It was very well edited into the film. I also love your assessment that the depiction is a modern day Citizen Kane story. So true! I also think that once people get far enough away from Trump this film will be an interesting portrait that will shed light on who he was and why his time in and out of office was so tumultuous.

At the very least, it's a far different film than the traditionally hagiographic film biographies Presidents have often received. We are no longer willing to deify those holding the office.

Great point David! I suppose only a staunch supporter of a President could make such a film.

Interesting! I can see why you waited to watch this. Not sure I could stomach it but it does sound like good performances.
