Yeah, it does seem like one of those docs I probably saw in film school that I slept through half of. Sounds like maybe it was poorly edited! 😄
I have also seen Walter Murch talk about filmmaking and editing in other docs and have no need to hear him espouse on the topic anymore. It sounds like it's a bit unsure who its audience is. Film geeks? Young film students? As a professor (ex-professor, I mean retired professor), you are a perfect person to review this and give it the wizened perspective. The best docs can still excite even the people with experience in the subject matter, and it sounds like this one does not do that.
