Ooof, I really wanted to like The Franchise, the concept is right up my alley. But isn't it interesting that it seems to specifically be mocking the MCU chaos, and not the more harsh DCU world considering it's coming from Time Warner? There's like one really good joke in every episode, which is not a great rate.
Well, I would disagree with that. I found most episodes pretty funny. Regarding MCU and DCU : it's all the same for those of us on the outside not interested in either world. I also think they did a nice job of capturing all of the roles of the crew members and their various attitudes and squabbles.
Well, the thing is, the specific jabs they were landing (indie directors on massive projects, super-execs running over everyone and over-promising, an oppressive upcoming slate) are all MCU things. The DCEU (which is now the DCU) is home to sex scandals, The Rock making power plays, people getting fired and refusing prestigious jobs, completed movies getting completely mothballed, picking and choosing what to consider canon or not. I have no horse here, but the DC world is way more chaotic.
I would have liked if this was a show mocking how the sausage is made. Instead, it just feels like an anti-Hormel show, which is a much more narrow focus. The bottom line should be, it's a shame we have an industry like this, but it felt like it was more, "Argh, superheroes are the death of us!"
Himesh Patel should be a star. Why is he stuck here?
Fair enough. Yes, Patel is quite good. I think most of the cast does a great job. Would like to see some of their roles expanded if there is a second season.
The Yacht Rock "Documentary" could've easily slipped into 2 hours of kitsch, but I thought it was really well done.
I loved Will & Harper so much!!
And just devastated that Somebody Somewhere didn’t get renewed. That was one of my favorites and it went to quickly.
Shrinking. So incredible.
Going to start Slow Horses soon.
Yeah, I've heard that Bridget Everett would like to do another season. It all depends on if another streamer picks it up. Let's hope so!
All the fingers crossed another streamer picks it up!
