Phew! This has taken me some time to compile. The bad news is I’ve only been able to narrow it down to my top 20.

Some of these I haven’t seen in a long time. It’ll get good to revisit some (all?) of them again. These are listed in date order.

Would be interested in hearing if you’ve seen any of these and your thoughts.

Oldeuboi (2003)

The Human Stain (2003)

Children of Men (2006)

The Departed (2006)

Das Leben der Anderen (2006)

La Vie en Rose (2007)

Le Scaphandre et le Papillon (2007)

No Country for Old Men (2007)

An Education (2009)

El Secreto de Sus Ojos (2009)

Mary and Max (2009)

Never Let Me Go (2010)

La Piel que Habito (2011)

Rundskop (2011)

Amour (2012)

De Rouille et d’os (2012)

August Osage County (2013)

How I Live Now (2013)

Camp X-Ray (2014)

Women Talking (2022)

Yes, I could have easily done a Top 20 also! I've seem most of the films on your list. My favorites would be The Departed, La Vie en Rose, No Country for Old Men, and Amour. I was not a big fan of Women Talking but I know a lot of people love it. I need to see Children of Men and The Human Stain Again.

Of the 10, I’ve only watched “Y tu mamá también” and “Memento”. I should rewatch them, it’s been so long. “Memento” frustrated me but I was a very impatient young teen. “Y tu…” is phenomenal.

Yes! Both are worth a rewatch. Don't expect "Memento" to get any less frustrating though! It's still a very clever and original film.

Great list. Only not seen one. Frances Ha. I need to remedy that. Thanks

Whiplash is awful. Just about the most inauthentic movie about musical pursuit ever made.

Having screened it for students for many years I can tell you that the large majority would disagree with you.

I’ve seen seven of these but need to rewatch them. The other three are new to me. I’ve fallen out of movie watching as my movie watching friends have gone away. Yeah, not a good place to be.

Well, you can always watch them at home. Sometimes the best experience is watching something at home with no interruptions.

Of the 10 on your ballot, the only one I've seen is "Get Out." I've got some homework to do!

I need to think on this, and unfortunately I haven't watched a ton of movies in the way I did before kids, but one that I haven't seen on a few of these lists is "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." I haven't watched it again since I saw it in theaters, but that one was tremendous.

Yeah, that one definitely deserves attention. It's a bit further down on my list. I was just working on a film review that mentions its strong qualities.
